ENSEMBLE ASSOCIATED WITH THE DIJON OPERA
A vocal and instrumental ensemble primarily devoted to early music, Les Traversées Baroques was founded in 2008. The project: to take transversal paths, explore new cultural and musical universes …
Originally, the word “baroque” referred to an “irregular pearl”. And it is indeed the irregularities, the curves, the singular asperities and programmes that interest Judith Pacquier (artistic director) and Etienne Meyer (musical director), founders of the ensemble. By gathering musicians from broadly different horizons, they breathe new life into the more obscure repertoires from Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany. These original programmes are performed in concert or on stage for operas, recorded on disk or taught in workshops and master classes, all in a relentless quest for artistic excellence.
Ensemble associated with the Dijon Opera since April 2013, Les Traversées Baroques continues to develop new programmes and original musical creations: the ensemble offers the public a musical voyage departing from Italy, the cradle of music at the start of the 17th century, with stops throughout the major artistic strongholds of Europe. Les Traversées Baroques has also turned towards opera, with a staged version of the Intermedi della Pellegrina in 2014. Les Traversées Baroques: for a musical adventure off the beaten path!
Les Traversées Baroques benefit from the support of the Ministry of Culture (DRAC Bourgogne Franche-Comté) as a subsidized musical and vocal ensemble, the City of Dijon, the Departmental Council of the Cote d’Or and the Regional Council of Bourgogne Franche-Comté.
