If L’Orfeo is considered the first masterpiece in the history of opera. it is without  doubt due to the dramatic genius of Monteverdi, who for the first time succeeded in the subtle alliance of word, note and affect…

In L’Orfeo, Monteverdi gives the mythic figure of the poet seeking his lost love in the afterlife  a prodigiously human and remarkably modern incarnation.

Stage director Yves Lenoir, whose work you had the opportunity to appreciate in his conversion of Rameau’s Castor et Pollux, (September 2014), has launched into a new incarnation of the myth by setting Orpheus in a room of a Chelsea Hotel peopled with creatures straight out of Andy Warhol’s Factory.

After La Pellegrina in 2014, Etienne Meyer and Les Traversees Baroques  return with a cast glittering of youth and excellence, the gold and sulphur of this baroque Walk on the Wild Side.
