This ballet was danced on 23 February 1653 by the young Louis XIV, then aged 15, before the French nobility – a ballet at the end of which he appeared dressed in gold and coiffed with the rays of the sun. Conceived as a complete spectacle, the ballet mixes poetry, the visual arts, music, song and dance.

It is this complete spectacle that will be revived by Sébastien Daucé, his ensemble Correspondances, and the choreographer and stage director Francesca Lattuada, bringing back to life the decors, the machinery and the baroque exuberance of the original in a modern, colourful and highly imaginative new version.
