Two of today’s most important artists of theatre and music, the stage director and dramaturge Joël Pommerat and the composer Philippe Boesmans, revisit the famous tale by Carlo Collodi : here, Pinocchio is skittish, naïve and easily amazed, caught up in the hardships of our world and the grand characters who inhabit it.

Philippe Boesmans, an essential composer of the lyric stage for over 30 years, signs here his seventh opera. This coproduction with the Festival of Aix-en-Provence also provides us an opportunity to reconnect with the extraordinary Emilio Pomarico, who directed a Wozzeck for the books in Dijon in 2015, heading a cast that includes Vincent Le Texier, Stéphane Degout, Yann Beuron, Julie Boulianne, Marie-Ève Munger, Chloé Briot (Little Nemo, February 2017), and the eminent Viennese ensemble, the Klangforum Wien.
