L’Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne

The success of our new regional orchestra’s previous seasons has proven the broad public appetite for the continuation of this project, launched just two years ago.

The Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra continues to develop programming around strong thematic repertoires and has become a popular mainstay with audiences throughout our region.

Today, as a permanent orchestra of varying size, the DBO plays a key role in Dijon’s cultural life and the activities of the region’s musical structures.

Artistic and Cultural development is an integral part of the orchestra’s mission towards various audiences and populations.

Particularly present last year in Fontaine d’Ouche, through its “local orchestra” project and its rehearsals open to the public, the DBO seeks to maintain a permanent artistic presence and expand it to the different parts of the city and the region, with activities both cultural and beyond.

The next three seasons, for example, will mix music with other artistic forms, allowing the orchestra to further extend its mission:

- Concerts around the Viennese classical and romantic repertoire, from Haydn to Schönberg.

- Around the personality of Kurt Weill, the “Exiled composers” and the roles of these musicians in their times.

- French music and its repertoire for orchestra.

- Musical creation through the theme “The orchestra and the composer today”.

In addition, the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra has made the commitment to promote contemporary music and the creation and performance of works by today’s composers. On three occasions in 2011/2012, the orchestra worked closely with the Dijon Opera to perform works by composer Brice Pauset.
