Scena Madre*: the  "mother scene", in the Italian vocabulary of the Seventh Art, is the key scene in a film, the culminating point to which all the action up to that moment has led, providing resolution and meaning. The latest creation of the Italian choreographer Ambra Senatore, performed at the Festival of Avignon in the summer of 2017, blends an homage to cinema — through all its genres, minor or major — and an idea that Senatore has developed since her earliest works, that even in dance, one can play a sketch of daily life and rewind it, dissect it, and toss it into the abyss. A choreography in form of a puzzle, with complex and fully developed dramaturgy, in which the elements are revealed to us in successive glimpses and signs to construct before our eyes a kaleidoscope of myriad scenes that are but the reflection of one.
