It would be unthinkable for this season’s musical foray into Iberian lands to neglect the most immensely popular work of all Spanish music, the Concerto d’Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo. This concerto derives its name from the gardens – from which the composer seeks to capture “the fragrance of magnolias, the song of birds, and the burbling of fountains” —of the Royal Palace in the city of Aranjuez.

Thibaut Garcia, the rising young Franco-Spanish star of the guitar, will interpret this masterpiece of the repertoire. You are also invited to savour the Spanish colorations of Bizet’s famous suites from Carmen.
