Mahler’s grand symphonic cycle is here performed by the Klangforum Wien under the baton of Emilio Pomàrico, who is already quite well known to Dijon, having inspired a vibrant meditation on the future of our planet …

If it’s true that the Earth sings, then is anyone listening? To better hear it, Gustav Mahler would take refuge in 1908 with no other companion than an anthology of classic Chinese poems. Throughout the summer, he delivered himself to his inspiration, weaving within six movements the voyage of a lyric voice sustained by deep symphonic currents. The intimate internal passages respond and reflect one another in a magnificent score, stimulating the inspiration of Philippe Quesne: the founder of Vivarium Studio has always been interested in the interactions between bodies and their environment, inventing unique spaces for their dialogue, true ecosystems for performers, which he presents today throughout the world. His new creation bathes in the Mahlerian sublime, in a version for chamber ensemble by Reinbert de Leeuw performed by one of the greatest orchestras in contemporary repertoire.
